MERKAI is built in the pressure between two languages for the same word: mer, kai — sea, sea. Garments cut like dive gear for everyday city pressure: quiet, weighted, made to move in the dark.

Two words for the same sea, sewn into one name.
"Mer" is French. "Kai" is Japanese and Hawaiian. Both surface at the same place — the sea — without ever having met.
MERKAI starts there: at the point where separate languages arrive at the same depth without translation. The brand is built the same way — minimal patterns, weighted fabrics, dark dye lots, finished low and worn close.
Nothing about it is loud. Everything about it is intentional. Each collection is named for a real depth zone of the ocean, and built for the conditions that zone implies — light, weight, pressure, cold.
